It happened in Rhawnhurst on the 7400 block of Whitaker Avenue around 1:30 a.m. on May 18, the department told Daily Voice.
Police were called for reports of an armed person and arrived to find a 34-year-old man near a pickup truck in a driveway, they said. He was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center with injuries to his chest and arm, and he succumbed to his wounds at about 1:45 a.m., authorities wrote.
No weapon was recovered from the scene and no arrests have been made as of late Thursday morning, the department added.
